For the Cake:

Graham crackers 1 package (14.4 oz)
Additional butter (for garnish) As needed
Chopped nuts or caramel pieces (optional) For garnish

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Mixture
Cook the Apples
In a medium skillet, melt the 2 tablespoons of salted butter over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and ground hazelnuts.
Cook, stirring frequently, until the apples are tender and the mixture is caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Vanilla
Stir in the vanilla extract and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
Step 2: Assemble the Cake
Layer the Graham Crackers
In a 9×13 inch baking dish, lay down a single layer of graham crackers, breaking them as needed to fit the shape of the dish.
Add Apple Mixture
Spread a portion of the caramelized apple mixture over the graham crackers.
Add another layer of graham crackers on top of the apples.
Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of graham crackers.
Step 3: Garnish and Chill
