Ingredients:
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
1 1/2 cups warm milk (110°F/45°C)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Start by dissolving the yeast in warm water in a small bowl and letting it sit for about 5 minutes until it turns frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and salt, and mix them well. Once combined, stir in the dissolved yeast. Slowly add flour to the mixture, gradually forming a dough. Knead this dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until it doubles in size, which should take about an hour. After the dough has risen, roll it out, cut out your doughnut shapes, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C) and fry the doughnuts until they’re golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side. Drain them on paper towels and glaze them however you like. Enjoy your homemade Krispy Kremes!
