Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 hamburger buns
1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
1. Warm up a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Toss in the sliced onion and green bell pepper, then let the veggies sauté until they’re soft and starting to caramelize.
2. Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and crumble in the ground beef. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper. Cook everything together, breaking up the meat with a spatula, until the beef is nicely browned.
3. Sprinkle that shredded provolone cheese over the beef and veggies. Cover the pan with a lid for a couple of minutes to let the cheese get perfectly melty and gooey.
4. While the cheese is melting, toast your hamburger buns if you’d like them warm and a little crisp.
5. Build your burgers by piling the cheesy steak mixture onto the buns. If you want, add any extra sautéed peppers and onions on top for even more flavor. Enjoy your homemade Philly-inspired cheeseburgers!
