Ingredients
– Chicken pieces
– Flour
– Honey
– Buttermilk
– Macaroni
– Cheddar cheese
– Butter
– Milk
– Salt
– Pepper
Directions
1. Start by marinating your chicken pieces in buttermilk. Let them soak up all that goodness for a few hours—overnight if you can.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour with a good pinch of salt and pepper.
3. Take the chicken out of the buttermilk, give each piece a shake, then dredge it thoroughly in the flour mixture.
4. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer and fry the chicken until it’s beautifully golden and crisp on the outside.
5. While the chicken cooks, get your macaroni bubbling away and cook it according to the package instructions until just tender.
6. In another saucepan, melt some butter and stir in a spoonful of flour to make a simple roux. Gradually whisk in milk, let it thicken, then stir in plenty of cheddar cheese for that creamy sauce.
7. Drain the macaroni and fold it right into the cheese sauce until every noodle is coated.
8. Now for the sweet and spicy drizzle: mix honey and hot sauce to your liking in a bowl. Stir well so the flavors come together.
9. As soon as the chicken is done and still hot, brush on your honey-hot sauce glaze.
10. Plate up your glazed fried chicken alongside a big scoop of buttermilk mac & cheese. Dig in and enjoy every bite!
